Italian Election Results
The BBC are distraught that their institutionally favoured left-wing party, led by a former communist ( are former nazis allowed similar rehabilitation?) hasn't gained a majority. They are narked that the "populist" (it's a democratic election darlings) Five Star Movement led by Beppe Grillo has got 25% of the votes. He is described as a clown or stand-up comedian. Er, that's a sine qua non in Italian politics, all politics in fact.

I love Italy including their chaotic joke political life, I'm sure as always they will bumble through.
Perhaps Garibaldi and King Victor Emmanuel were wrong to have the risorgimento, wouldn't Italy be more vibrant as a loose confederation of indepenent mini- states again?
I think the Italians could give you a good argument for and against and never resolve anything except having a rather good meal afterwards which is fine by me.
I would consider all of ours (in the UK_ as clowns - but unfortunately the influence (admittedly it's p.p. multinationals & banks) they wield reminds me more of the clown from Stephen King's "It".
